Vadiniense Route

The Vadiniense Route is one of the most spectacular historic itineraries of the Camino de Santiago in León, a pilgrimage route that connects the Lebaniego Way with the French Way, crossing unique landscapes of the Cantabrian Mountains and the Leonese side of the Picos de Europa. Its name comes from the Vadinienses, a pre-Roman people who inhabited these mountains between Mansilla de las Mulas and the Picos de Europa, leaving a historical and cultural legacy that still remains alive in the territory.

Considered one of the oldest Jacobean routes, the Vadiniense Route offers pilgrims an authentic experience of nature tourism, hiking, and rural tourism in León. Along the route, visitors will discover forests, mountains, rivers, and natural viewpoints that make this trail a perfect option for lovers of nature, wildlife, and protected natural spaces.

The route crosses some of the most impressive landscapes in northern Spain, following ancient paths historically used by pilgrims traveling from Santo Toribio de Liébana to Santiago de Compostela. From Fuente Dé to Mansilla de las Mulas, the route allows visitors to enjoy a privileged environment where emblematic Cantabrian wildlife species live and where the tranquility of the mountains invites relaxation and discovery.
